iciHaiti - Social : Tribute to four personalities for their contribution to the development of the village of Ravine Sèche

On March 25, at the initiative of the Françoise Canez Auguste Foundation (FFCA), in partnership with the foundations : Lise Antoine Saint-Natus / Santé-Education-Femme (FLASSEF), Emmanuel Lesy Brézault (FELB), Odette Roy Fombrun (FORF) and the company Sco Tour Haiti, a tribute ceremony was organized in honor of four emblematic personalities for their invaluable contribution to the development of the village of Ravine Sèche located in the communal section of Bois-Neuf (Bas-Artibonite).

According to the organizers, by honoring these personalities, they want to make known to the general public the existence of the village and its historical, cultural and tourist assets capable of enriching the craft heritage and attracting local and foreign visitors, but above all finding financial resources to strengthen the training of young people and the pottery workshop, a source of income for the villagers.

  • The Haitian poet and writer Frank Etienne was honored for his contribution to the maintenance of the Frank Etienne residence museum;

  • Huguette Mevs was honored for her great contribution by funding the archaeological study carried out at Ravine Sèche;

  • Odette Roy Fombrun was honored for her writings and works on the Amerindians of Haiti and the interventions of her Foundation in Ravine Sèche;

  • Benjamin Scott from the international NGO Food For the Poor (FFP) for the support of the NGO in the rehabilitation of houses in this village.

The event was marked by an exhibition and sale of pottery works by artisans from Ravine Sèche; an auction of one or two paintings offered by Juliette Barthe and a subscription / fundraising for tours of young people with limited means in Ravine Sèche.
