iciHaiti - Activities : National Day of the Haitian Women's Movement

Marie Giselhaine Mompremier the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF), in a press conference this week unveiled the content of the activities to commemorate the national day of the Haitian women's movement.

Exceptionally, the ministry will not be able to celebrate on the precise date (April 3, 2021), given the fact that the day of the celebration of the event is "Holy Saturday", a day retained in the Catholic liturgy where the whole church is immersed in silence before celebrating the resurrection of Christ during the paschal vigil and on Easter day.

However, with regard to respect for each other's religious faith, the MCFDF remains faithful to its commitments and will make a point of commemorating the national day of the Haitian women's movement on April 6 and 7 in Jérémie ( Dept. Grand-Anse) around the same theme: "Female leadership for an egalitarian and peaceful future in Haiti in a world of Covid-19," said Minister Mompremier.

Calendar of activities :

Tuesday April 6 : at the Foyer Culturel de Jérémie, official ceremony attended by state dignitaries, local authorities and representatives of civil society organizations, particularly women's organizations.

Wednesday April 7 : the Concertation Table of Civil Society and State organizations against Gender-Based Violence will be launched in the Department of Grand-Anse. During this activity, three large panels composed of experts in the field relating to the issue of Gender Violence will be formed in order to intervene on the following themes:

Panel 1 :

Problem of violence against women and girls in the Department of Grand-Anse;

Panel 2 :

Presentation of the action plan to combat gender-based violence for the next three to three years;

Panel 3 :

Fight against gender-based violence in Haiti : Technical and financial contribution and commitment of international and local NGOs.
