With passion and vision, she left her mark on the management of risks and disasters in Haiti," Bruno Lemarquis, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in Haiti (BINUH), United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Jerry Chandler, Director General of the DPC : "Dr Jeanne Marie Yolène Vaval Suréna, the first Director of the Haitian Civil Protection Directorate (DPC), from 1995 to 2003, has passed away. A collaborator of exemplary competence and communicative interpersonal skills, she left her mark on a whole generation of managers and volunteers of the National Disaster Risk Management System, whom she has seen grow and mature. I offer my condolences, those of my family and those of the entire civil protection family to Dr. Claude Surena, her children and all her collaborators who have had the privilege of working with her. The DPC will be forever grateful to this pioneer. ". That his soul rests in peace," Jerry Chandler, Director General of the DPC.
