iciHaiti - Covid-19 : High contamination rate in Petit-Goâve
On Saturday June 26 at a press conference, Dr Fred Jasmin Director of Notre-Dame Hospital of Petit-Goâve, revealed that over the period from May 27 to June 24, 2021 (in the middle of the 3rd wave) 255 people were screened and that 63 of them (24.7%, nearly one in 4) have tested positive for Covid-19, reports our colleague Arnold Joicy.

In addition, Dr. Fred specified that among the 63 infected patients, four were in a difficult and complicated situation and that they were urgently transferred to Port-au-Prince to a Covid treatment center, so that they can receive the necessary care.

Dr. Fred Jasmin took the opportunity to invite the population of Petit-Goâve to come and be tested in order to know their status.

Aware of the extent of the spread of the virus at the commune level, the director of Notre Dame Hospital said no one was safe. "Anyone can catch Covid-19. It is important that the barrier measures dictated by the Ministry of Public Health (compulsory wearing of a mask, hand washing, social distancing) are respected."

Concluding "If you feel any discomfort, go to Notre Dame Hospital. Do not wait for your state of health to deteriorate"
