Jean Emmanuel Jacquet, the new Minister of Culture learned with dismay of the passing away of Herman Nau (native from Les Cayes), on Sunday July 25, 2021 at the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn (New York) as a result of a Cerebral Vascular Accident (Stroke).

The Minister salutes the departure "[...] of an exceptional drummer, a creator of joy, a forger of destinies, a talented artist. Co-founder of Tabou Combo in 1968, Herman Nau marked, by his charisma and his playing, the Haitian popular music of the last sixty years. He left on the eve of the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the compass, this Monday, July 26, 2021. He will be sadly missed !"

While wishing that his work continues to inspire other young percussionists, Minister Jean Emmanuel Jacquet "presents on behalf of the Government, his condolences to the musician's family and to the fans of the Tabou Combo who have just seen a icon left. Because, by his commitment, his pulsations and his rhythms, Herman Nau was, beyond this great figure of the direct Compass, quite a symbol."
