The South Departmental Directorate (DDS) of the Ministry of the Environment (ME) is positioning itself again this year alongside the local authorities of the city of Les Cayes as part of the preparations for the celebration of the patronal feast of the city "Notre-Dame of The Assumption".

To this end, Jean Marc Chérisier, Director of the DDS is leading a sanitation campaign on the Gelée beach which will receive thousands of pilgrims on August 15th.

These sanitation activities which aim to create an enchanting setting for visitors are carried out in partnership with the Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of Public Works which made available to the DDS/ME rolling stock capable of ensuring the collection and transport of all excavated material.

Note that this campaign will continue 2 days after the celebration to clean the site from environmental neglect from pilgrims and other visitors.
