iciHaiti - Puerto Plata : Migration control, 80% of Haitians arrested were illegal
The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) with the support of the Dominican National Police carried out migration controls on Thursday, September 16.

125 Haitian nationals were checked in the Province of Puerto Plata as part of a ban operation carried out in particular in the tourist towns of Sosúa and Cabarete.

Of the 125 Haitian citizens whose migratory status has been checked, 101 of them (80.8%) are in an irregular migratory situation and have been transferred to Santiago to be repatriated to Haiti. The remaining 24 who did not have their documents with them were handed over to their families after presentation of valid migration documents.

The DGM stresses that these checks and detentions, which will continue, were carried out in compliance with all the provisions established in terms of visas and the two-year validity of transit cards (2020-2021).
