The Embassy of Haiti in Paris (France) has learned with deep sadness the news of the disappearance of Professor Marcel d´Origny, a specialist in the French Revolution, slavery and abolitionist movements.

"The Haitian Diplomatic Mission salutes the memory of this great historian, whose quality of work was recognized and highly appreciated. A broker of knowledge, he devoted his life and his career to the study of abolitionist struggles and slavery.

Teacher-researcher at the Department of History of the University of Paris VIII and author of a considerable work on the revolutionary struggles which led to the independence of Haiti, Marcel Dorigny has led several seminars in Haiti, notably at the School. Normal Higher of the State University of Haiti.

With his departure, Haiti loses one of its illustrious friends who, through his multiple commitments and his love for the first postcolonial Republic of modern times, greatly contributed to making known the universal significance of this great moment in the history of Humanity represented by the Haitian revolutionary period.

The Embassy of Haiti in France offers its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, to his former students as well as to his friends and collaborators."
