On Monday October 4, the day of the start of the school year in the Great South, the majority of schools did not function, particularly in the towns of Cayes (South) and Jérémie (Grand'Anse).

The torrential rains which fell on the region, combined with the slogan of strike aimed at denouncing the insecurity and the scarcity of fuel on the market, strongly paralyzed the activities in the early morning when the schoolchildren were absent from the streets...

But beyond the South, the partially followed strike also disrupted in addition to shops, the school system in Pétion-ville, Delmas, downtown and Carrefour where schools practically did not function.
