On behalf of Chancellor Claude Joseph, unavailable for the occasion, Ambassador Léon Charles delivered the virtual address of the Haitian delegation during the 2nd plenary session of the 51st General Assembly of the OAS.

During his speech the Ambassador, Charles among others, vehemently denounced the assassination of the former President of Haiti Jovenel Moïse and formally requested international legal assistance so that the material authors, intellectuals and sponsors are prosecuted in justice.

He also stressed the need to maintain a climate of security and peace in the region to allow populations to enjoy the benefits of democracy. Finally, Ambassador Charles addressed the issue of Haitian migrants by asking that they be treated with humanity, in accordance with the rules and principles of human rights.
