Last weekend, the Specialized Corps for the Control of Fuels and the Trade in Goods (CECCOM), put an end to the activities of a gang of criminals dedicated to smuggling fuel toward Haiti.

Following an important work of the Intelligence Directorate, CECCOM agents intercepted on the Sánchez highway, in Paya (Province of Peravia), a truck loaded with a large quantity of fuel in tanks and cans.

3 people were arrested, the vehicle loaded with fuel and a large sum of money were seized. Everything was delivered and made available to representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office for investigation.

Meanwhile, the Dominican army intercepted and seized in two separate operations more than 3,000 gallons of smuggled fuel destined for Haiti.

In a first operation at least 448 jerrycans of fuel were seized by members of the Dominican army while they were smuggled into Haiti by Haitians and Dominicans.

In a second operation, the military seized 135 jerrycans containing petrol and diesel.
