iciHaiti - Dom. Rep. : A Haitian photographer honored for his practices in favor of the disabled
The National Handicap Council, an entity of the Dominican Presidency, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), evaluated 293 candidates (168 from the private sector and 125 from the public sector) working to develop and promote good inclusive practices for people with disabilities and their families in the Dominican Republic.

Haitian photographer Jean-Daniel was awarded in the "Bronze" category who has been teaching photography since 2019 to deaf people in the Dominican Republic. He also organized various photography exhibitions showing the work of these young students.

In February 2020, Jean-Daniel organized the first edition of the International Deaf Photography Conference with the participation of Gustavo Pomar, a guest photographer from Argentina. In November 2021 he organized the 2nd edition of this Conference with the participation of Héctor Cappelletti, another Argentinian photographer invited to share his experience with young deaf people.

From March 2022, Jean-Daniel intends to set up in the Dominican Republic the first photographic studio run by deaf and hearing professionals.
