Tuesday, December 21, at 9:53:32 am an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the department of Grand’Anse between Corail and Roseaux. The epicenter was located at 18.58 degrees North Latitude and 73.92 degrees West Longitude at a depth of 5 km.

Following this earthquake which caused a panic situation in Les Cayes and the closure of several schools, Dr. Bernard February, Departmental Director of the South of the Ministry of Public Health reported 150 injured people identified at the Conception Hospital in Les Cayes, mostly students and academics.
