iciHaiti - World Music Festival : Special Haiti-Benin

Faced with the vagaries of local and international news, the Festival "Rencontres des Musiques du Monde" offers a "Special Haiti-Benin" edition until February 1, 2022.

Initially, instead of the edition which should have taken place in June 2021, the face-to-face concerts were postponed to the beginning of December 2021. Unfortunately, on this date, the situation in the Haitian capital was not able to guarantee the carrying out of the activities in sufficient conditions for the artists, the teams and the public.

The festival has therefore chosen to reinvent itself once again by offering a creation residency based on the meeting of artists Donaldzie (Haiti) and Teriba (Benin). The residency thus makes it possible to maintain the spirit of the festival and the "encounter", by meeting artists who were initially programmed face-to-face.

Program of activities :

  • Donaldzie Théodore / Teriba creation residency from January 26 to 31;

  • Concert at Maison Dufort, in partnership with the Center d’Art, as part of the "Vives" exhibition, on Saturday January 29 at 4 a.m. (free, subject to availability)

  • Percussion workshop open to women percussionists with Teriba, at the premises of the International Organization of La Francophonie, Peguy-Ville, Monday January 31 (information / registration: 38 28 84 42)

Learn more about Donaldzie Théodore :

Young singer and pianist, Donaldzie Théodore shared the stage with Emeline Michel in a live performance performed last March, on the occasion of Women's Rights Day.

Learn more about Teriba :

Teriba means "humility" in the Yoruba language. The "Teriba" sisters were revealed by their first album "Gan Na Ho", released in 2006. Through their creations, they are committed to promoting Benin's cultural heritage, through music and traditional instruments, such as as the massed, the tchink or even the bemdre drum.
