Friday, February 18, 2022, early in the morning in the lounge of the Town Hall of Cap-Haitien, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, Sébastien Carrière, the political team of the Embassy and Mrs. Yvrose Pierre, the Mayor of Cap-Haitien, Charles Philippe Bernoville Head of Partnership and External Cooperation of the Town Hall.

During this meeting, Ambassador Carrière and Mayor Yvrose Pierre discussed, in particular, cooperation between Haiti and Canada, but above all on the importance of decentralized cooperation for the major cities of Haiti and particularly for Cap-Haitien and the need to provide lasting solutions to the problems facing the city.

They also stressed during this meeting the importance of continuing to support economic actors in the region and encourage trade between the two countries.

At the end of this meeting, Ambassador Carrière said he was very happy to have met the Mayor of Cap-Haitien at the head of the country's second city, "[...] what a bon bagay ! Women are the future of the country, in Canada and in Haiti."

For her part, Mayor Pierre thanked Ambassador Carrière for this outpouring of solidarity.
