iciHaiti - USA : 602 Haitian boat-people intercepted in 2 weeks

Earlier this week a Florida resident reported to US authorities that a sailboat overloaded with around 100 suspected migrants was about to run aground.

Shortly after, the boat ran aground near the residential shoreline in Summerland Key, Florida. All migrants aboard the ship disembarked and returned to shore.

Law enforcement was able to immediately secure the area without incident and provide first aid to a few migrants in need of assistance due to dehydration. The group of 123 Haitians told authorities they left La Tortue Island, Haiti, on March 9.

The Haitian migrants were transported to Marathon and Dania Beach Border Patrol Posts for further processing and will be released to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

With this new attempt, the number of Haitian migrants arrested by the American authorities rises to 602.
