iciHaiti - Looting : The Minister of the Interior calls for calm

Liszt Quitel, the Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities, while recognizing the Constitutional right to demonstrate, urges the population to proceed peacefully and to preserve lives and property and calls for calm.

After the looting, in the middle of the hurricane season, of the Departmental Emergency Operation Centers (COUD) of Grand-d'Anse and Artibonite, instruments of intervention in the event of disaster, "these are the reaction capacities of the State which will be greatly reduced as new alerts are triggered," warns the Minister.

"By attacking the courts, schools, universities, town halls, police stations, humanitarian and commercial warehouses... it is all of us Haitians who are the losers," said Minister Quitel, who urges calm and undertakes to work to improve of the life of every Haitian.
