On Wednesday, December 14, members of the National Police of Esperanza intercepted and arrested in the sector of Monte Adentro, (municipal district of Jicomé) two Dominicans Nilo de Jesús Durán de los Santos and Rosa Tejada who were illegally transporting in a white Toyota SUV Hailander, 16 Haitians in an irregular migration situation and seized contraband goods from Haiti.

The police found and seized inside the vehicle : 12 bottles of beer, 24 bottles of rum and 299 packets of cigarettes as well as goods of Haitian origin and three cell phones...

The Dominican National Police (PND) has indicated that the Haitians will be made available to the National Directorate of Migration for the corresponding legal purposes.
