Friday, February 24, 2023, Bendjy Chéry, (31), was arrested by the police in the city of Cap-Haitien, for usurpation of title, breach of trust and fraud. He pretended to be a doctor by issuing false medical papers to citizens.

Using false identities, including that of "Gilles, Peterson", Bendjy Chéry pretended to also be a travel agent and received money from people to plan their trip to foreign countries before disappearing. 17 complaints were filed against him by his victims and he had been actively sought by the police since 2020.
