iciHaiti - Diaspora : A Haitian-American couple released by their captors for ransom
Thursday, April 13, 2023, the Haitian-American couple from Florida Jean-Dickens Toussaint and his wife Abigail, kidnapped on March 18 in Martissant (South of Port-au-Prince) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39145-haiti-diaspora-an-american-couple-of-haitian-origin-kidnapped-on-a-bus-in-port-au-prince.html was released by their captors for ransom.

The family first learned of the ransom demands after the friend who accompanied the couple contacted his relatives, said Christie Desormes, the couple's niece, adding "The family paid the kidnappers' $6,000 demand, but then they increased the price to $200,000 per person..."

The exact details of the couple's release terms were not immediately disclosed. There was no immediate comment from the US Embassy.
