iciHaiti - Insecurity : 128,000 displaced people, down (Feb. March)

According to the third Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) assessment exercise conducted by the General Directorate of Civil Protection and the International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti) between February and March 2023. Nearly 128,000 Displaced Persons Interns (IDPs) live in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince. The number of IDPs in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince has decreased by 18% compared to the previous year dating from November 2022.

According to these assessments, most IDPs are hosted in host communities (with family members, friends, acquaintances). However, a decrease in the number of IDPs in host communities was observed, compared to the previous year, while an increase in IDPs living in spontaneous sites (reception centers, temples, churches, schools or spaces in the open air) has been observed.

These assessments also identified 46,000 displaced people who returned to their neighborhoods of origin.
