For more than a week, the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) no longer produces a single MW in the country, in the grip of a multiple social, economic and technical crisis, including a sling of its employees who demand the payment of 5 months salary arrears while others are revolting against dismissals which they consider abusive...

EDH employees caused the emergency shutdown of the Péligre power plant, causing a general breakdown of the national grid... a first in history...

EDH on the brink of bankruptcy with near-zero cash flow, unable to collect the mountains of unpaid bills from consumers, including those of the State, is crippled by debt and no longer has the fuel to operate the other centers.

Factories are closing for lack of electricity.

E-Power, a private supplier that normally supplies EDH with 30 megawatts, temporarily pulled out of the grid at EDH's request, unable to operate the grid on its own. E-Power is waiting for the order to reconnect...
