IciHaiti - Obituary : Michaëlle Craan alias «Manman Jacmel» the light of Jacmel, passed away
Wednesday April 26, 2023 Michaelle Craan native of Jacmel (Oct. 15, 1938) alias "Manman Jacmel" died at the age of 84, deplores the Ministry of Tourism in a note.

"[...] it is difficult to talk about Jacmel without mentioning the one that is almost considered as a monument of the city. She took part in all the activities likely to put the city forward and shone with her love of the region, which moreover returned it to her well.

In addition to being an emblematic personality of the area and a fervent local tourism activist, Michaelle Craan is also a former collaborator of the Ministry of Tourism of Haiti who is doubly bereaved by this loss.

To her family, her friends, all the inhabitants of Jacmel and colleagues of the deceased, the Ministry of Tourism sends its most sincere sympathy. She will have marked her passage and left a legacy that the MOT undertakes to continue to perpetuate.

Legends don't die!

So rest in immortality dear Michaëlle !"

Ministry of Culture :
"The Ministry remembers, with gratitude and emotion, the commitment of Michaëlle Craan for the development of Jacmel and for the influence of Haiti

Michaelle Craan's enthusiasm, voluntarism, for everything related to tourism and culture, has imprinted a way of being and doing in the South East metropolis. She carried in her what the imagination of the world keeps best of Haiti.

The Ministry of Culture presents its sincere condolences to his family, his friends and to the whole city of Jacmel which has always loved the great lady that she has been and will remain."
