iciHaiti - MUPANAH : 3 years to restore a dress from the court of King Henry 1st 09/06/2023 09:36:01
The Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH) has invested in the restoration of a "Long dress in white cotton muslin" from the Museum's Collection that belonged to Miss Eléonore Richeux de Laroche Asnière, bridesmaid at the king's court Henry I (1811-1820). The restoration of this precious witness object of the kingdom of Christophe in the North lasted from 2015 to 2018. Description: It's a dress finely ruffled at the waist with mid-length sleeves formed by two gathered balloons. It closes at the back with a row of metal staples, reinforced by a "baleine". Its particularity is played out, in particular, at the level of the lower part of the skirt which is folded over to form a wide hem which goes as far as the embroidery. This white embroidery, made using the technique of stem stitches, eyelets in cord stitch, openwork, represents flowering branches that bloom in a garland over the entire width of the skirt.
