December 3rd, 2024, will celebrate the "International Day of Persons with Disabilities" an opportunity for Haiti to reaffirm its commitment to a true policy of inclusion and respect for the rights of persons with disabilities.

In accordance with the recovery and renovation plan of the Office of the Secretary of State (Génard Joseph) for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), in accordance with the "United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)" and the "Law of March 13, 2012 on the integration of persons with disabilities", we celebrate the day of December 3rd, 2024 around the theme "The same services and opportunities for all".

Our slogan this year can be summed up in 3 words: Leadership, Disability and Inclusion.

This day will be an opportunity to hold the General Assembly on Disability. It will also launch the BSEIPH Recovery and Renovation Plan, which will serve as an institutional framework for strengthening the Center for Documentation and Specialized Research on Disability (CDRSH) and the National Center for Inclusion. These two centers must facilitate the sustainability of public actions on disability in order to achieve the public policy of inclusion of people with disabilities.

The National Center for Inclusion (CNI), will also be presented as the body in charge of working with Organizations of People with Disabilities in the 10 departments of Haiti. This body aims to empower people with disabilities and strengthen organizations of people with disabilities (OPH). The scope of action of the CNI can be summarized in several areas : transcription of documents in accessible format; training of professionals on the issue of disability; vocational training of young people with disabilities with a view to their integration into the labor market; cultural activities and awareness-raising among the population.

This day will finally allow the BSEIPH to present to the public the CDRSH which aims to collect data whose research results will be used to promote equal opportunities through the inclusion of people with disabilities in all spheres of social life.
