On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Dr. Duckenson Lorthe Blema, Minister of Public Health, inaugurated a new oxygen production unit at the Hôpital Universitaire la Paix (HUP) in Delmas 33. Thanks to this unit, the HUP will be able to produce between 20 and 24 oxygen cylinders per day, thus saving lives and better responding to critical cases.

Several personalities, including members of the Minister's office, Dr. Gabriel Thimothé, Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Paul Junior Fontilus, Executive Director of the HUP, Dr. Jean Monetoile Marseille, representative of FHI 360 (a global organization of 4,000 experts that mobilizes research and resources so that people can lead full and healthy lives), as well as many service providers and technical and administrative executives of the HUP took part in the ceremony.

In his speech, Minister Blema stressed that this inauguration is part of efforts to strengthen the provision of care in our hospitals, while responding effectively to emergencies encountered by health facilities, particularly in the metropolitan area.

He also specified that this investment demonstrates the commitment of the Ministry of Health to broaden its scope of action to ensure holistic and quality care for patients attending our health facilities.
