iciHaiti - Politics : Important meeting between the MCI and vehicle importers in Haiti
On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Nixon Guiraud, held an important consultation meeting with Haiti's leading vehicle dealerships.

This initiative was part of the Government's efforts to better integrate private sector concerns into the preparation of the 2025-2026 fiscal budget and also to strengthen the economic resilience of this strategic sector for the benefit of the country.

The discussions focused on the major challenges facing entrepreneurs in this sector, including the impact of the security crisis on business operations, the downsizing of some companies, and difficulties related to financing costs.

On this occasion, several dealerships advocated for the implementation of a subsidized interest rate and incentive measures to preserve existing jobs.

Demonstrating his sense of responsibility, Minister Monazard reaffirmed the Government's commitment to listening, analyzing, and acting to support the productive sectors already engaged by his administration. He also announced the conduct of an in-depth technical study to evaluate the proposed solutions, while encouraging concessionaires to further structure themselves through a formal sectoral consultation mechanism, a guarantee of a more effective public-private partnership.
