iciHaiti - Labadee : Haiti deprived of cruise passengers until April 2026
Initially suspended until the end of October 2025 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45448-haiti-tourism-royal-caribbean-extends-the-suspension-of-its-stops-in-labadee.html , the Royal Caribbean cruise line has once again extended the suspension of its calls at the private resort of Labadee in Haiti until April 2026.

Royal Caribbean cited the ongoing unrest in Haiti as the reason for suspending this stopover from several of its cruises.

The Labadee resort has long been a popular vacation spot where guests enjoy a variety of activities, including beaches, water sports, and exciting excursions. Unfortunately, the closure has been extended until 2026, meaning visits will be suspended for more than a year.

April 2026 will mark the first time Royal Caribbean will reevaluate the duration of its calls at Labadee. For now, the area will be declared a closed port of call for cruises, and therefore uninhabited. However, the company believes that the health and safety of passengers and crew must be protected, which is its priority.

Based on the available information on the affected ships and modified itineraries, we note that eight ships in the fleet are directly affected : Adventure of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean has already announced that it is taking steps to replace ports in order to offer as many of the same itineraries as possible. The new ports include Grand Turk, Puerto Plata, Falmouth, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Nassau, and the company's private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Each of these ships will undergo modifications to their original itineraries. Some cruises are already planning specific port changes. For example, the Freedom of the Seas, which sailed in November 2025 and was scheduled to call at Labadee and Nassau, will now replace Labadee with Grand Turk. Another November cruise will call at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and a December itinerary will add Falmouth, Jamaica.
