iciHaïti - Port-au-Prince : Inauguration of the Jacques Stephen Alexis Media Library
The National Book Directorate (DNL), in collaboration with the Port-au-Prince City Hall, inaugurated the Jacques Stephen Alexis Media Library this week, located at 1 Rue Duncombre.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Ernst Saint-Louis, Director of the DNL; Frantz Herald Moïse, representing the Minister of Culture (Patrick Delatour); Pierre-Raymond Dumas, representing the National Education Fund; and Allwitch Joly, Chief of Staff to Mayor Ralph Youri Chevry, representing the Port-au-Prince City Hall.

Members of the municipal administration, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and students from several schools were also present.

The Jacques Stephen Alexis Media Library aims to be a space for learning, discovery, and culture open to all, especially young people. It embodies the shared vision between the National Book Directorate and the City Hall : to promote access to reading and knowledge as drivers of development and civic engagement.

The City Hall of Port-au-Prince is committed to supporting the National Book Directorate in the smooth operation of the media library, to supporting the initiatives developed there, and to encouraging cultural and educational activities such as reading clubs, writing workshops, film screenings, and author events.

The City Hall commends the efforts of all those who contributed to the realization of this project—institutional partners, technicians, and cultural stakeholders—whose commitment made this initiative possible.
