iciHaiti - Society : More than 500 young people participate in the Leadership Forum
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in collaboration with the Henri Christophe Campus in Limonade of the State University of Haiti (UEH) and with the financial support of the Embassy of Canada, a two-day Forum on Youth Leadership in Haiti was officially launched.

The first day marked the opening of a new national space dedicated to civic participation, leadership, and innovation driven by Haitian youth.

More than 500 young people from several communes in the North participated in this event, alongside representatives of the Limonade Campus management committee and various engaged stakeholders from local civil society.

Objectives presented on the first day :

• To encourage youth leadership, civic engagement, and citizen participation;

• To improve understanding of governance mechanisms;

• Promote the socio-economic empowerment of youth;

• Provide young people with a structured space to express their ideas and contribute to a better future for Haiti.

Panels and themes addressed :

• Citizen participation, democracy, and political engagement;

• Employment, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship;

• Cultural identity, environment, and migration;

• Relations between youth and public institutions and access to services;

• Local governance and social cohesion;

• Combating impunity.

Furthermore, the Limonade Campus Management Committee announced the launch, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP - Haiti), of the Center for Public Policy Support (CAPP), affiliated with the State University of Haiti (UEH). This Center will be responsible for supporting the monitoring of ongoing projects, facilitating coordination with public institutions, and fostering ongoing dialogue.

This inaugural day laid the groundwork for a renewed space for dialogue and the active mobilization of Haitian youth around issues of citizenship, innovation, and democratic governance.
