iciHaïti - NOTE : NIF issue, being resolved

The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) announces that the issue of new Tax Identification Numbers (NIF) issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which are not accepted by the Immigration and Emigration Directorate's IT system, is being resolved.

The DGI reiterates that it does not generate Tax Identification Numbers (NIF), which are provided exclusively by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The problem originated with the issuance of new NIF by the MEF last October without consultation with the DGI's IT unit and other partner public institutions. These new NIF use a different format than those recognized by the DGI's IT system, hence the lack of synchronization. The IT specialists at the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) deployed considerable ingenuity to try to integrate them into their system, but this failed to gain traction at the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), which is aware of the problem, hence the observed blockage in passport issuance.

The technicians at the Ministry of Economy and Finance's (MEF) Information Systems Directorate took action and decided to correct the error and collaborate to rectify the situation. Thanks to this collaboration between the two institutions, we are able to announce that the problem will be resolved shortly. Our citizens can rest assured.

The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) offers its sincere apologies to users for the inconvenience caused by this incident and assures them that measures are being taken to prevent such disruptions from recurring in the future.
