A new Municipal Commission has been installed in Cap-Haitien

On Friday, May 22, 2026, the new interim Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien was officially sworn in at the North Section Magistrate's Court before being installed in the Cap-Haïtien City Hall by the North Departmental Delegate, Marc Me Présumé, during a ceremony held in the presence of representatives from the judicial, administrative, and police authorities, as well as municipal officials and several civil society figures.

This official ceremony marks the start of the new municipal team's term, tasked with managing the municipality's interests until the next local elections, in accordance with the provisions established by the competent authorities of the Haitian State.

Composed of Michel Saint-Croix, President (Mayor), and Edeline Jean and Micardo Vreus, members (Deputy Mayors), this new Municipal Commission takes office in a context marked by several administrative, environmental, social, and urban challenges facing the country's second-largest city.

In his address, outgoing Deputy Mayor Patrick Almonor emphasized that "Cap-Haitien deserves a stable vision, organized governance, and continuity in public action. No real progress can be built on improvisation or discontinuity." He also extended his best wishes to the new Municipal Commission, while stressing the need to continue the efforts already underway for the benefit of Cap-Haïtien and the Grand Nord region.

The new Cap-Haitien Municipal Commission is called upon to work with efficiency, transparency, and a sense of responsibility to meet the legitimate expectations of the population and support the development efforts of the city.
