iciHaiti - Politic : Signing of an agreement of 129 million with Spain

This Tuesday afternoon at the National Palace in the framework of the visit of José Manuel García-Margallo, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be signed a framework cooperation agreement between the two countries laying down the bases and modalities of the Intervention of the Spanish cooperation in Haiti for the next three years.

According to our information this agreement provides for an investment of 129 million euros between 2015 and 2017. This amount is in addition to other forms of assistance from Spain, which have amounted to 428 million between 2006 and 2013 and 346 million in humanitarian aid that Spain had pledged at the International donor conference after the January 2010 earthquake.

Before the signing of this agreement the Chancellor went to Gressiers (15kms of Leogane) to visit installations of a Salesian school (Don Bosco Riobé) rehabilitated at a cost of €2,4 million from Spanish funds and inaugurated by Queen Sophia in 2011 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-3979-haiti-education-queen-sofia-will-inaugurate-the-salesian-college-in-gressier.html

Spanish Cooperation focuses on education and institution building, in addition to water supply and sanitation works, which are its specialties.
