iciHaiti - National Ambulance Centern: Outlook and Priorities 2026-2027

Ricardo Jean-Baptiste, Director General of the National Ambulance Center (CAN), recently convened the administration’s senior staff for an important meeting focused on the outlook and priorities for the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year.

During the meeting, Ricardo Jean-Baptiste outlined several strategic directions aimed at improving working conditions for staff and strengthening the administration’s overall operations.

Key announcements included the regularization of the status of contract staff at the CAN, through the renewal of existing contracts and the formal appointment of those who meet the necessary requirements.

The Director General also discussed various employee benefits, including the provision of debit and fuel cards, alongside other measures designed to enhance the working environment.

In the same vein, Ricardo Jean-Baptiste announced a special compensation for employees this coming December, a measure intended to provide additional support to the staff as the year-end holiday season approaches.

Finally, he addressed false allegations regarding a delayed response by a CAN ambulance when the Mayor of Kenscoff, Jean Massillon, fell ill. He reiterated that he had already refuted that during a press conference on October 12, specifying that it had taken the ambulance 45 minutes to reach the Mayor. He emphasized that an operational ambulance was available in Kenscoff and that the medical emergency protocol was activated by his team immediately upon receiving the alert.
