On Thursday, members of the specialized body of terrestrial border security (CESFRONT) seized more than 440 bags of garlic, 22 lbs each, smuggled into the Dominican Republic through the maritime area of Montecristi (northwest).

According to the report of CESFRONT, garlic has been intercepted by the military when smugglers were preparing to move with a van and a 4x4 after loading their vehicles with smuggled goods landed from a boat from Haiti.

Those responsible for this traffic were able to escape during the operation and are actively sought, according to the military authorities. The bags of garlic and seized vehicles, were taken to CESFRONT headquarters of this region for legal suites.
