Dominican Republic : 40,521 Haitians expelled in October

During the month of October 2026, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), in collaboration with the armed forces, the Dominican National Police (PND), and various security agencies, conducted major migration control operations across several locations within the Dominican Republic. These efforts resulted in the apprehension of 44,414 Haitians with irregular migration status, 40,521 of whom were subsequently expelled.

As part of its field control mandate, the DGM carried out inspections at agricultural holdings and agro-industrial projects in several provinces, including San Francisco de Macorís, Moca, and San Juan. Nearly 700 Haitians with irregular migration status were identified during these interventions throughout October.

The operations also targeted commercial establishments in the provinces of Duarte, Peravia, San Pedro de Macorís, and La Romana, as well as in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo (specifically in the areas of Pantoja, Girasoles, Sabana Perdida, Villa Mella, Av. Ecológica, Independencia, Luperón, and Km 9). The objective was to verify the migration status of the individuals present and to assess the employment conditions of the foreign workforce.

Finally, the DGM implemented initiatives to strengthen the training of its operational and administrative staff. These efforts, carried out in partnership with national and international organizations, are aimed at improving the monitoring and verification of the status of foreign workers, as well as enhancing the quality of services provided to those affected.
