iciHaiti - Diaspora : 225th anniversary of the ceremony of Bois Caïman (UPDATE)
The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago has the duty of reminding the Haitian community as a whole that August 14, 2016 brings the 225th anniversary of the Bois Caiman Ceremony; very important event in the history of mankind since it led to the creation of the first black republic in the world.

On this occasion, the aitian Congress to Fortify Haiti organize with the support of the Consular Mission, Friday, August 19 from 7:30 pm, an evening recreational, cultural and patriotic at the Levy Center located at 300 Dodge Ave., Evanston Il. Snacks and refreshments will be offered.

We rely again this year, on a good participation of community members in this important event that celebrates a point in history whose symbolism should never be forgotten.

The next day, August 20, Haiti will participate in the West Indian Carnival in Chicago. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Midway Plaisance, between Stoney Island and Cottage Grove. This participation is sponsored by the Consulate General of Haiti.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago hope the community proudly participate in these activities that make August a month historically and culturally significant.
