iciHaiti - Economy : Senate and Private Sector united against smuggling

On Tuesday, members of the Standing Senate Committee "Ethics and Anti-Corruption" chaired by Senator Youri Latortue met with a delegation from the Economic Forum of the Private Sector led by Frantz Bernard Craan Coordinator of the Forum. At the center of the discussions, the fight against border smuggling, which results in the loss of millions of dollars of tax revenue every year to the Treasury and the need to take measures to strengthen border security.
Senators and the Economic Forum recognize that this scourge must be eradicated. For its part, Craan deplores the fact that for 10 years the Economic Forum has been calling in vain for the state to act to curb, if not eradicate, border smuggling, but little has been done, recalling that contraband has a negative impact on our national production.
