iciHaiti - Politics : Eric Jean-Baptiste takes the lead of the RDNP
Thursday, August 16, at the Karibe Hotel, delegates of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP) organized their 9th Convention.

During this Convention, the former leader of the Socialist Action Movement (MAS) and businessman Eric Jean-Baptiste was elected Secretary General of the party by 224 votes against 42 for his opponent Dr. Jean Ardouin Louis-Charles.

For the first time since its creation 30 years ago, the RDNP will not be run by a member of the Manigat family.

After the announcement of the results, the new Secretary General said that the RDNP would work to conquer power at all levels indicating that the party will not deviate from its ideological center-left line.

Mirlande Manigat, the outgoing secretary general, who was not a candidate for her own re-election, remains Honorary President and will sit on the Executive Committee of the RDNP.
