On Friday 11 January, the delegation and the departmental director visited the detainees and met with the Commissioner of the Government at the Court of First Instance of Jérémie Me Bergemane Sylvain and the Dean of the Tribunal Me Kesner Jean Numa around the issue of prolonged detention. The latter promised the delegation and the Director to work to reduce the lengthy pre-trial detention in the Department. It was also an opportunity for the delegation and the Departmental Director to attend the release of John Peter Morose, arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned since December 14, also victim of violence by the agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) who had incarcerated him.
