iciHaiti - Culture : Launch of the fortnight of La Francophonie 13/03/2019 10:27:26
The occasion for France to recall its commitment for the promotion of the French language and bilingualism in Haiti and for Jean Michel Lapin, the Minister of Culture to emphasize in his speech : "The global theme chosen this year is 'In French, please', while in Haiti at the national level, the theme is 'In French and Creole, please'. And here you have understood that the universal theme is slightly reorganized at the national level. You also understand, that this theme immediately refers to the principle of cohabitation of the two languages (French and Creole), which managed to evolve on the same territory (Haiti) and it is not always smooth. If ever, you want a certain literary happiness, you only have to read and reread the famous novel by Jacques Roumain : 'Gouverneurs de la Rosée'." From the 13th to the 27th of March 2019, dozens of activities will be organized both in Port-au-Prince and in the provincial cities, notably at the French Institute In Haiti and in the five Alliance Française of Cap Haitien, Gonaïves, Jacmel, Les Cayes and Jérémie (Conferences, workshops of formations and scenic readings, final of contest of French songs, spectacles and round tables among others).
