On Saturday, as part of the 2nd Edition of the Copa Hispaniola Basketball where 12 teams from 5 countries (Cuba, Haiti, El Salvador, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic) are competing (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July) in the Park Eugenio María de Hostos, Haiti's National Men's Basketball Selection, qualified in the semi-finals after three wins in as many games against the Dominican Republic (#2) "Universidad Nacional Evangélica" (UNEV #1 and #2) .

The countdown to the trophy began Saturday for Haiti thanks to a first victory win over Team Dominican (#2) thanks to 4 points from Walky Petit (Samuel de Pétion-ville) and James Virgil (Unity). Before winning with more difficulties their second match against UNEV #1 [6-5] and close the day by offering a third win against UNEV #2 [13-12] following a spectacular comeback late in the game.
