iciHaiti - Washington : The Embassy of Haiti announces an art exhibition of the diaspora
The Embassy of Haiit Washington is pleased to announce the "Diaspora Expressions Expo", a post-modern Haitian art exposition curated to unveil the hidden talents of artists in the Diaspora community. For the occasion, the Embassy will host a Grand Opening on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Ambassador Hervé H. Denis decided to launch his tenure with an Art Diplomacy Series centered on the works created by members of the Haitian Diaspora to accentuate the role of art in cultural promotion and integrate the Diaspora in Haiti’s cultural diplomacy efforts. “The Diaspora is one of Haiti’s greatest resources and incredibly talented. The admiration for their heritage is evident through the number of organizations, associations and social media initiatives created to share Haiti’s beauty and historical significance. In essence, they are seeking to (re)connect with their roots and contribute to the Haiti conversation. This initiative offers them a platform to do just that,” says Ambassador Denis.

As part of the exhibit, the Embassy will host a periodic Artist Talkback to offer the Washington metropolitan community an opportunity to engage with the artists and hear their stories. In the spirit of Diaspora engagement, the Embassy invited Haitian-American artist and American University adjunct professor, Charles Jean-Pierre, to co-curate the exhibit.

The exposition will be open for individual and group tours from August 5, 2019 to December 30, 2019 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
