iciHaiti - Diaspora : 18th Edition of «Creole Month in Montreal»

Under the theme "Kreyòl ak libète marasa" (Creole and Liberty are synonymous), the direction of "Komite entènasyonal for Pwomosyon kreyól ak Alfabetizasyon" (KEPKAA) announces the holding of the 18th edition of "Creole Month in Montreal", a multicultural event where literature, art, music, dance, painting, fashion and humor will be present from October 5th to October 30th.

This year, the opening day will be held Saturday, October 5 at the Leonardo Da Vinci Center, located at 8370 Lacordaire Boulevard (Montreal). Entrance will be free including parking. In the program among others: Moïse Benjamin aka Benzo the storyteller, Guadeloupe; talented singer and songwriter Kebert Bastien from Haiti; painting exhibition in partnership with the artists Hilaire Leconte and Michel Levy-Préval; exchange on Creole language and culture.

More than 15 other activities await you in the program of this edition of 2019. The singers Jean Jean Roosvelt and Charlson Duverné aka Poppy will be at Balattou October 6 at the invitation of singer Barbara Guillaume, the psychologist, writer and educator Jacques Maurice will host a talk on young people and the place of Creole in the Haitian family of the diaspora, Guadeloupian dancer and choreographer Chantal Loïal will offer an Afro-Caribbean dance workshop and will present a documentary film on creolization, actors Bonga and Pascale Julio will interpret Vwazen (a reading-show based on the text of the Haitian poet Georges Castera on a background of jazz music, followed by a musical performance), the great dictation of Creole Month will be in the spotlight on October 13 at the library of North Montreal (12002, Boulevard Rolland), the new Creole theater festival under the direction of director Ralph Civil, Mots Rose publisher and various other groups and artists will participate in this great celebration, which aims to develop the human personality while promoting understanding, tolerance, fraternity and friendship between peoples.
