iciHaiti - Literature : Fédia Stanislas laureate of the literary Prize Deschamps

The journalist and writer Fédia Stanislas, from Jérémie, has just written her name in the annals of the Henri Deschamps Literary Prize 2019, by winning the 44th Edition of this competition with her novel in Creole "Konfidans" which addresses current issues such as prostitution, migration, domestic violence and the poverty that dehumanizes the Haitian population.

This novel tells the story of a woman forced to prostitute herself, who had to undergo a forced marriage under the pressure of her family that she must feed at all costs. A story that the character Wozi tells from the prison where she was locked up after accidentally killing her husband who was constantly violating her... was able to capture all the attention of the jury members : Évelyne Trouillot (President), André Vilaire Chéry, Farah Martine Lhérisson Lamothe, Emmelie Milcé Prophet, Wèche, Rhoddy Attilus, Ronald C. Paul, and Marie Laurence Jocelyn Lassègue.

Fédia Stanislas will receive a check for 175,000 gourdes and her novel will be printed in 1,000 copies.
