iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : War of neighborhoods, thirty houses set on fire
The conflict between residents of Shada and Nan Bannann, two poor neighborhoods of Cap Haitien resumed after the raid of Shadah armed individuals, close to power, against an opposition rally late last September.

According to the Police Commissioner Hugues Gabriel, during this week's clashes, more than thirty houses, shops and warehouses were looted before being burned in Shadah by individuals from Nan Bannann. Several wounded were reported, some shot.

Following these clashes, the residents of Shadah say they will take revenge and Nan Bannann must expect reprisals...

For its part, the population of Nan Bannann points to the Departmental Delegate of North Pierrot Augustine whose "henchmen" have paid and distributed weapons to Shadah. Allegations that Pierrot Augustin denies and rejects vigorously.

So far the police have not made any arrests in this conflict and seem powerless to prevent these clashes... Many people in Cap-Haitian are wondering about the ability of the police to end this conflict, which has already mourned in several families...
