Tuesday morning at the bicentenaire , several special units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) carried out a major operation in the dangerous slum of Village of Dieu (southern exit of Port-au-Prince) in an attempt to dislodge the numerous armed groups that control this strategic area for transport to the South, an area where the diversion of public transport vehicles and trucks of goods has become frequent...

An operation which encountered a strong armed resistance during which at least 3 police officers were wounded by gunshots while in an armored vehicle. Several injuries and fatalities among gang members and several injuries in the side of the population have been reported without being able to be verified and confirmed. The panic-stricken population, in an atmosphere of guerrilla warfare and gunfire, deserted the streets to seek shelter.

So far, no official report has been communicated by the authorities concerned, neither on the number of victims, nor on the results of this operation, while on social networks videos whose authenticity is not confirmed, shows barricades at the entrance to the slum and police forces backing under heavy fire from armed individuals defending the area.
