The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) thanks the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for the additional funding of one million United States dollars to strengthen its support to Haitian government to prevent and mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on the food security of vulnerable rural communities in Haiti.

This additional CERF funding will allow FAO to support the Government in protecting the livelihoods of agricultural households and implementing prevention and awareness-raising activities against the spread of Covid-19 in targeted rural areas.

To date, FAO has mobilized US $3.75 million (equity and CERF funds) to provide agricultural assistance to 30,300 households (151,500 people) in the North East, North West, Nippes and Grand'Anse and limit the impact of Covid19 on agriculture.
