As part of the cooperation between the national police forces of the two nations of the island, a Haitian accused of the murder in the municipal district of Santiago de la Cruz at the beginning of the year of Santiago Pimentel Estévez a cattle breeder in the Dominican Republic, was arrested earlier this week in Fort Liberté...

According to a report by the Dominican authorities, the detainee identified only by the name of "Nico" worked as an employee on a cattle farm belonging to the victim and fatally assaulted him, stealing the money he was carrying. Following his crime, "Nico" fled to Haiti via the Massacre river, where he remained on the run for almost three months.

Finally, the Haitian National Police found him and arrested him in Fort Liberté.

However, the Dominican authorities recall that because there is no extradition treaty between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, "Nico" cannot be brought and presented to Dominican justice to answer for the crime of which it is accused.
