Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that for the week of June 22 to 28, 2020, 31 road accidents on the national territory (+ 82.3%) by compared to the previous week https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-31096-icihaiti-road-safety-17-accidents-at-least-43-victims.html , made at least 77 victims (+ 79.0%) : 9 dead (+ 125%) and 68 injured (+ 74.3%) including several seriously.

Girardo, Charrier (Cap-Haïtien), Road 9, Aux Poteaux, Chalon, Thomonde, Petit-Goâve, Arcahaie, Delmas 75, Ganthier among others, are the main communes and zones where these accidents have been recorded.

Recall that this weekly assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of STOP-Accident means, it is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die from their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen preventive measures in the face of the rise in Covid cases19, particularly in terms of public transport and containment.
